impacts contract farming on cultivation and postharvest practices on red chili farm in Magelang District, Indonesia

Contract farming refers is to carry out the agreement between buyer and farmer reduce risk for both parties. Red chili rotten, damaged, has a large shrinkage, causing production, quality price risks. The study provide an empirical analysis of impact contract on cultivation postharvest practice. field survey was conducted in Magelang District as one production centers red chillies West Java. Data collected from 40 farmers 45 noncontract. results indicated that post-harvest practices are better quality, well quantity compared non-contract farmers. In farming, done by controlled growers representatives company. Tight control over products produced generates not only but also increase farm productivity. recomended apply other agricultural commodities, specially high commodity which wid fluctuation, variation, susceptible climate changes.
